Flawless NYC applauds Gisele Bündchen

Gisele Bündchen revealed in a recent interview with People, that she was told in the early years of her career that she would never make it big in the modeling industry. “I remember some people telling me my nose was too big or my eyes were too small, that I could never be on a magazine cover, “ she reported to People.

The modeling world is ever changing and we are learning as the years pass by that views on beauty are constantly shifting and embracing unique looks. Models from all over are breaking stigmas and showing the world that they are not all the same. We are shown this from women like Giselle, new to fame plus-sized model Ashley Graham, or Chantelle Brown-Young, the rising model with a rare skin disorder known as Vitiglo. Aside from models, in recent years unisex brands and designers who are supportive of gender ambiguity have chosen males and females to showcase their clothing lines. These actions taken by models, agencies, and designers prove that a collective change in the fashion industry is possible and there no longer is one type of beauty.

Vogue stated that Gisele had 42 casting rejections before landing her first major job. Forbes has recently named Giselle as the highest paid supermodel in the world, which is quite ironic for a girl who faced rejection and was told that she would never be pretty enough to grace the cover of a magazine. What we can learn and commend from Gisele and all others who have faced adversity, is that anything is possible with the right mindset and determination.
